South Florida Race Calendar

About

Originally this calendar was built on my running blog for my own use to keep track of which events were coming up and were of interest to me. I built the South Florida Race Calendar because while there are many great event calendars managed by the local South Florida running clubs and event organizers, none of them had all the events. Sites like Active.com have a lot of events in their directories but generally only list events that use their services.

I have rebuilt the calendar as both of a service to fellow South Florida runners. Event organizers can post events on the site for free (keeping this list up myself is a lot of work) or for relative chump change ($19), can create a featured listing for their special event. Running relevant advertisers are welcome.
Full service race registration and web design solutions are available as well. With the area’s best race calendar, Facebook and Twitter exposure you already know I have your event’s online marketing covered.

Happy Trails!

What is the South Florida (Running) Race Calendar?
The South Florida Race Calendar is the most comprehensive list of upcoming running races in the South Florida area (Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties). The site is not maintained or managed by the organizers of any of the events, running clubs or running stores listed within.

Why not just look for local running races on Active.com?
Active.com has a ton of events listed. However it is an event registration site, and only lists races that uses its services for event registration. By only looking for events on Active you might be missing out on some really cool races.

Does it cost anything to use the Calendar?
The calendar is FREE to use for both event seekers and organizers and will stay that way. Those wishing to highlight their listings on the site may do so by paying a small one time fee per event.

Why should I list my race here?
Listing here is free for starters. The South Florida Race Calendar provides  the area’s most popular popular search engine optimized calendar resource to drive additional (FREE) traffic to your event’s own web page. If a runner searches for running events in South Florida they will most likely come here first. There aren’t many better ways to spread the word about your race or club on the internet.

What are the listing costs?
Listing an event on sflracecalender.com is free! you may choose to feature your event for $19. Featured events are prominently displayed on the home page and throughout the site.

How long are events listed?
All events, both featured and non-featured, are displayed on the site until the event takes place.

Why not simply list my event on Facebook?
As great a tool for promoting an event Facebook is, it is still a closed site.  Without a paid advertising campaign your event’s fan page isn’t going to get much more reach than the number of fans the page has and this number will be greatly dictated by the number of friends you the administrator have now. sflracecalendar.com is indexed and accessible by all of the major search engines and is translated in several other languages (bet you didn’t know that). Also, it is free to use! (just saying)

Where do you get all the events that are listed?
The events are submitted by both the event organizers and myself (by scouring the internet). I try to keep the site updated with any events the organizers may have neglected to list. It’s definitely a community effort.

Do you accept advertising?
Most certainly! Click here to get the details.

How can I add my store or running club to the directory?
Just send us the info and we’d be happy to add it.

How come my listing’s picture doesn’t look as good as some of the other listings’?
The ideal picture is a high definition picture which is at least 940 x 410 pixels (width x height) in size and is shrunk to fit the 940 x 410 space on the home page. The best thing to do is prepare your photo for this ratio before uploading. The event name will appear above the bottom 100 or so pixels of the slider image during image display.

How do I modify or delete my listing(s)?
Please contact us via the contact page.

How do I modify a race listing someone else added?
If you spot an error in a listing you did not add yourself, please contact us and we’ll look into it.

I have multiple events I want to list, is there an easier way to add them?
If you have ten or more races you’d like to add to the calendar, please contact usWe might be able to work something out.

Who runs this site and who do I contact if I need help?
